A Fete For 1,500.
It Cost The School Nothing.

On 1 July 2026, Anzac Park Public School in Cammeray ran their school fete, and we fed about 1,500 kids, parents and staff. We sent Birdman, organised additional local food trucks for the cuisines the school wanted, and kept prices affordable with our lower school pricing. When the day was done, we refunded the school's $2,500 guarantee in full and donated 20% of our proceeds to the school foundation.

Key Takeaways

  • Anzac Park Public School in Cammeray ran their fete on 1 July 2026, with about 1,500 kids, parents and staff fed across the fete.
  • We sent Birdman, our Korean fried chicken and smash burger truck, and organised additional local food trucks so the school got every cuisine they wanted through one contact.
  • The school paid $2,500 to guarantee our minimum. Sales on the day passed it, so we refunded the full $2,500, then donated 20% of our proceeds to the school foundation for air conditioning.
  • Strictly no nuts on the menu, a Working With Children Check held through Service NSW, and feedback that was all positive, especially on speed and affordability.
  • The school has rebooked us twice since, including their ten year anniversary celebration.

The Event

A school fete is one of the best days on the school calendar. Anzac Park Public School in Cammeray, on Sydney's lower north shore, is still quite a new school, and their fete on 1 July 2026 drew about 1,500 kids, parents and staff. That is a lot of people to feed.

What The School Cared About

The school was clear about what mattered. Price came first. A fete is a family day out, so we run lower pricing for school jobs and we priced the menu for families.

Allergies were not negotiable. The school asked for strictly no nuts, so we removed anything that could contain nuts from the menu for the day. We hold a Working With Children Check through Service NSW.

And then there was speed. With 1,500 people on site, the school didn't want students and teachers spending the fete standing in a line. Fair call. We usually serve in under 60 seconds an order, depending on the menu, and a fete crowd is exactly what that speed is built for.

What We Did

We sent Birdman, our Korean fried chicken and smash burger truck. The school also wanted cuisines beyond our own fleet, so we organised additional local food trucks for them and managed the lot as one arrangement. One contact, one plan, the whole food lineup sorted.

On the day, the only complication was a tight spot to park, and we managed it.

The Fete Cost The School Nothing

Here's the part we're proudest of. The deal was simple: families bought straight from the truck, and the school paid $2,500 up front to guarantee our booking minimum. Sales on the day went past the minimum, so we refunded the school the full $2,500.

Then we went one further and donated 20% of our proceeds to the school foundation, going towards renovations to build air conditioning around the school.

A fete is meant to raise money for a school, not cost it. This one ended with the school paid back in full and a contribution on top.

The Result

About 1,500 people fed, and the feedback afterwards came back to the two things the school cared most about: how fast the line moved and how fair the prices were.

Since the fete, Anzac Park has rebooked us twice, including their ten year anniversary celebration. That's the real report card. There is no better reference than a school that books you again.

Planning A School Event?

If you're on a fete committee or the P&C, start with our school fete catering page, or see school fundraiser catering for more ways food trucks can raise money for your school. Everything else lives on our schools page. One handy note: school grounds are private property, so there was no council paperwork involved in this fete. If your event is in a park instead, our guide to council approval for food trucks explains how that works.

Common Questions

How does payment work for school fete catering?

School bookings are usually priced per head, with school pricing from $15 per head. Anzac Park worked differently: families bought directly from the truck on the day, and the school paid $2,500 up front to guarantee our booking minimum. Sales passed the minimum, so we refunded the full $2,500.

Can you cater around nut allergies?

Yes. For this fete the school asked for strictly no nuts, so we removed anything that could contain nuts from the menu for the day.

Do you hold a Working With Children Check?

Yes. We hold a Working With Children Check through Service NSW.

Can you organise food trucks beyond your own fleet?

Yes. At this fete the school wanted more cuisines than we run ourselves, so we organised additional local food trucks alongside Birdman and managed it as one arrangement. One contact for the whole food lineup.

How many people can you feed at a school fete?

A single truck comfortably serves 60 to 600 guests, and we scale up from there. This fete fed about 1,500 people between Birdman and the extra trucks we lined up.
