From the Night Shift
to a 100 Year Celebration.

How Simplot went from booking us for a single night shift to trusting us with their 100 year site celebration in Bathurst.

Key Takeaways

  • Simplot has been a returning client since 2023, starting with day, afternoon and night shift feeds at their Kelso plant.
  • This September we are bringing two of our larger trucks to Bathurst for Simplot's 100 year site celebration, close to 1,760 guests across the day.
  • Bathurst is a three hour drive from Sydney. The crew heads up the day before and is set up before the first shift clocks on.
  • Halal and vegetarian are always covered, so the whole team eats.
  • A tailored menu built for the crowd: Rangers Valley wagyu brisket, gochujang popcorn fried chicken and loaded fries.

It Started With the Night Shift

Some clients you win once. Simplot we have kept.

It started with the night shift. Simplot's plant at Kelso, just outside Bathurst, runs around the clock, and they needed a truck that could roll in and feed the day, afternoon and night crews without holding up the line. Halal and vegetarian sorted, no fuss, fresh off the grill. We did that first site day back in 2023, and they had us back.

The Drive West

Since then we have made the drive west more times than we can count. Site celebrations, thank you days for the team, a truck parked up feeding shift after shift.

It is a three hour run from Sydney each way, so more often than not the crew heads up the day before and is ready before the first shift clocks on. That is the bit that keeps a client for years. They know we will turn up, every time, wherever they are.

The 100 Year Celebration

This September it steps right up. Simplot's Bathurst site is turning 100, and it is a proper milestone. The site is the original home of Edgell, canning veg there since 1926. They have asked us to cater the celebration, close to 1,760 people across the day. For a crowd that size we are bringing two of our larger trucks and a menu built for it: Rangers Valley wagyu brisket and fries, gochujang popcorn fried chicken, and loaded fries, with beef, chicken, halal and veg all covered so nobody misses out.

The number that matters

Close to 1,760 guests. Two trucks. One 100 year milestone, in a town three hours from home.

Why Big Teams Keep Us On

Here is the bit that matters if you run a big site. Feeding hundreds of people is not the hard part. Doing it again and again, on time, without a fuss, is. That is what turns a one off booking into a client you keep for years.

Simplot did not hand us their 100 year celebration on day one. We earned it, one shift at a time. We turned up when we said we would, fed everyone properly, cleaned up and got out of the way. Do that enough times and the big jobs follow.

If you run a distribution centre or a plant with a team to feed, that is exactly how we like to work. Start with a staff day, see how we go, and build from there.

Catering for Large Sites and Regional Events

A plant celebration in Bathurst is a long way from a city office lunch, and it asks for a different sort of caterer. You need one who can travel, cook at volume, and cover every dietary need in the crowd without slowing down.

We have cooked for Woolworths, Coles, Bunnings, Amazon, Commonwealth Bank, Sony and Toyota, from tight office lunches to festivals of tens of thousands. Big teams, big numbers, and plenty of people who can tell fresh food from food that has been sitting around.

If you are planning a staff day, a site milestone or a regional event, here is what to ask before you book a caterer, and here is how we handle corporate catering across Sydney.
