Can guests pay for their own food at a school fete?

Yes. For a school fete or big public day The Food Hub can trade as a vendor: families buy their own food from the truck, the school pays nothing up front, and we ask for a $2,500 plus GST minimum which the school only tops up if sales fall short.

How the vendor model works

  • No hire fee and no payment up front.
  • Families order and pay at the truck on the day.
  • We agree a minimum of $2,500 plus GST. If takings reach it, the school pays nothing. If they fall short, the school reimburses the difference.
  • For a big enough crowd we can also talk through a share per item sold going back to the school.

When booked catering suits better

  • A presentation day, staff lunch or smaller event where the school pays per head, from $15 per head plus GST with a 60 guest minimum.

What we bring

  • A Working With Children Check through Service NSW, $20M public liability and our own power, gas and water.
