FROM THE OFFICE MILESTONE TO THE MUDDY SITE FEED

Food Truck Catering for Engineering and Infrastructure Firms

One week it is a project milestone in the office. The next it is 200 people on a site with traffic management and an induction pack. We do both, and the paperwork is sorted before we get to the gate.

Feeding project teams and site crews since 2016

The short answer

Food truck catering for a Sydney engineering or infrastructure firm runs from $18 to $35 per head plus GST, all inclusive, with a minimum of 60 guests. We work at both ends of your business: an office milestone in a car park, or a crew feed on a live site with induction paperwork and traffic management to work around. Our fastest genuine turnaround is 24 hours, and we recently fed 220 on a site three days after the first message.

Constraint one: two completely different rooms

Your office day and your site day are not the same booking.

An engineering firm has a split personality when it comes to feeding people. There is the office: a project win, a milestone, an end of year thing, where the food is a reward and people have time to enjoy it. Then there is site: a crew who get a fixed break, in boots, in whatever weather is happening, and who need to be fed and back on the tools.

They need different menus, different run sheets and, honestly, different attitudes. On an office day the menu can be wide and people can browse. On a site day a wide menu is a mistake, because every extra choice is another few seconds at the window and the break does not stretch to accommodate it.

So tell us which one you are booking and we will build for it. If it is site, tell us the exact minutes in the break and we will cut the menu down to what genuinely moves. On a straightforward menu we get about three orders out every sixty seconds, and quicker on the simple items. That is the number that decides whether the break works.

Constraint two: inductions and lost time

Nobody wants a truck arguing at the gate.

The thing that actually costs you on a site day is not the catering spend, it is the twenty minutes of a project manager time spent sorting out a supplier who arrived without their paperwork. It is a small failure that makes you look disorganised in front of your own crew.

We hold $20M public liability and can supply a certificate of currency on request. We carry food safety documentation for inductions and a Working With Children Check where a job needs one. Send us your induction pack when the booking is confirmed and we will complete it, along with crew names and vehicle details, before the day.

On the site itself: the trucks run from 7 metres up to 11.5 metres long, 2.5 metres wide and 3.5 metres high, and we need roughly 2 metres clear either side to serve. Overhead clearance of 3.7 metres or more is comfortable. We do not go into underground car parks. Firm grass and a wide enough driveway are both fine. Send a Google pin and we will check the approach on a map. Every truck runs on its own generator, gas and water, so we need nothing from the site.

Start to finish

How a project day is booked.

1

Tell us office or site, and the numbers

Headcount, date, and whether this is a celebration with time to enjoy it or a crew feed inside a fixed break. Those two answers change everything that follows.

2

We check access and send the paperwork

A Google pin lets us confirm the truck fits. Your induction pack, our certificate of currency, food safety documentation and crew details all go across before the date.

3

The menu gets built for the clock

A wide menu for an office day. A deliberately short one for a tight break, because that is what actually gets 200 people fed. We will tell you which we think you need.

4

We arrive early and stay out of the way

Set up well before service, run on our own supply, serve the window, pack down and take our rubbish. One tax invoice with GST broken out, terms of 7 to 14 days, PO number quoted.

John Holland, 220 serves, booked in three days

220 serves · 2 hour window · 1 truck · on their site

They came to us direct, three days out. One all halal truck, 220 crew, a two hour window on their own site. We also brought extra stock nobody had asked for, so anyone who fancied something different could have it.

The result. All 220 fed inside the window, and the feedback was that the volume was handled comfortably.

Total Construction, the halal question answered properly

North Strathfield · 55 guests · clear breakdown up front

They asked which of our items could be served halal. Rather than a vague reassurance, we gave a clear item by item breakdown before the booking so their whole team could choose with confidence.

The result. Nobody had to sit out, because the answer came before the booking rather than after it.

FAQ

What project and site managers ask us.

How much does it cost to cater 200 people on a site?

Most corporate jobs run between $18 and $35 per head plus GST, all inclusive of the truck, crew, setup, equipment and pack down. The rate falls as the headcount rises, and it also depends on how many of our four trucks are still free on your date, which is why we quote per event rather than off a table. Send us the date and the number and we will come back with a real figure, usually within the hour.

Can you feed 200 people inside a 30 minute break?

It depends on the menu, and we would rather be straight with you than optimistic. On a straightforward menu we get about three orders out every sixty seconds, and faster on the simple items. Two hundred people in thirty minutes is a serious ask from one truck. Tell us the real number of minutes and we will either cut the menu to fit, suggest staggering the break, or bring a second truck. What we will not do is agree to it and hope.

Can you supply a certificate of currency for our site induction?

Yes. We hold $20M public liability and can supply the certificate of currency on request, along with food safety documentation and a Working With Children Check where one is needed. Send us your induction pack when you confirm and we will complete it before the day rather than at the gate.

How quickly can you turn a booking around?

Our fastest genuine turnaround is 24 hours. We recently fed 220 people on a site three days after the first message. With four trucks there is often one free, so if your date is close it is still worth asking. If we cannot do it properly we will tell you that rather than half accepting it.

What if it rains on the day?

We serve. Rain does not stop us and we have done plenty of wet days. The only reason a wet day gets cancelled is if you decide to cancel it. If your crew will be queuing in the open, it is worth thinking about where they will stand, and we are happy to move to a more sheltered spot if the site has one.
